I am a middle-aged technology professional based in Singapore. By day, I lead and deliver complex technology and software projects — navigating architecture trade-offs, governance, stakeholder alignments, and engineering execution.
By night, I take off the management hat and build software hands-on. Over the years, I have created and deployed over nine production web applications to solve real problems for students, parents, communities, and gamers.
🛠️Why I Build Independently
Managing software gives you a strategic, bird’s-eye perspective. But nothing keeps an engineering mind sharper than writing code, configuring servers, debugging WebSockets, and observing real users interact with your creation at midnight.
When frontier AI models emerged, I didn’t just want to read whitepapers or sit in vendor presentations. I wanted to stress-test their boundaries:
- Can an LLM reliably grade handwritten student work according to the Singapore syllabus? (Professor Turtle)
- Can AI bots act as credible opponents in turn-based strategy board games? (Puzzle Arena)
- Can coding agents like Claude Code and OpenCode safely accelerate software delivery without hallucinating bugs?
1. Utility First, Hype Never
Software earns its keep when it solves an actual human pain point. If a task doesn’t need AI, simple deterministic code is always better, faster, and cheaper.
2. Guardrails Over Autonomy
Whether in workflow automation, AI grading, or financial research, autonomous systems must always have explicit boundaries, validation schemas, and human review gates.
3. Build to Learn
The best way to understand modern tech stacks — from Fastify and React 19 to Astro, Docker, and Zeabur — is to build, deploy, and support them in production.
4. Responsible Stewardship
Protecting user privacy, maintaining data security, and ensuring systems are safe and auditable are core tenets of professional engineering craft.
